Pisoniano

Coat of arms of Pisoniano
Pisoniano is located on the slopes of Mount Guadagnalo, in the Fiumicino river valley.

Its name comes from the villa of Caius Calpurnius Piso, one of the conspirators of Nero, to where he fled after the attack.

After the Romans and the Barbarian invasions, Pisoniano entered into control by the Abbey of Subiaco in 594. In the fourteenth century it was then sold to various families. In 1572 the Theodoli family erected a great palace and a small defensive tower, which collapsed in 1969.
