Alvito. Palombara Tower

Palombara Tower of Alvito owes its name to its ancient use for the training of pigeons used by travelers for remote communication. The terracotta cells are recognizable by the birds.

The tower was part of a fifteenth century building that has seen many changes in ownership and was destroyed in the earthquake of Marsica in 1915 and 1984.
