Borgorose. Barrow Mound of Corvaro

In the plain of Corvaro in Borgorose was found a mound in the centre of the basin.

It is a necropolis and so far 254 graves have been found fromdifferent periods and with different layouts.

The ancient graves were guarded with weapons while those after the arrival of the Romans, between the fourth and third centuries BC, have strigils (metal tools for cleaning the body) and balsamin a small container, for men, and small bronze and silver mirrors for women.

The Plain of Corvaro has brought to light other important archaeological finds in the Sacred Area of Saint Erasmus.
