Oriolo Romano. Borgo del Vignola

Oriolo Romano is one of the very few rationally planned settlements from the urban point of view.

Giorgio Santacroce wanted to create a sort of ideal town with a plan designed by Vignola.

The village was rationally divided and revolved around a central square where there were government buildings and some homes and it has at its centre a fountain (the work of Barozzi).

The streets wind their way on a regular basis and leave wide open livable spaces.
