Soriano nel Cimino. Chia village

Chia is a village on a small hill overlooking the Tiber Valley and is part of the city of Soriano nel Cimino.

Its original nucleus dates back to 1100 AD.

The woods around here were inhabited since the pre-Etruscan period and are littered with rock tombs.

Every year, during the holiday season, a live nativity scene is organized in the woods.

Chia was particularly beloved by the poet, writer and director Pier Paolo Pasolini who restored an ancient castle with a tower, the castle of Colle Casale also called Tower of Pasolini, and spent periods there.
