Castel San Pietro Romano. Cyclopean walls

Castel San Pietro Romano. Cyclopean walls

The ancient acropolis of Castel San Pietro Romano was surrounded by polygonal walls (or Cyclopean walls) dated to the VII and VI century BC.

The walls have been reinforced at various times and you can see the different construction techniques. An extension has been made during the Medieval period when they built the fortress.

In this area are the catchments for the springs whose water was brought to Palestrina in underground aqueducts with concrete ducts.
