Nepi. Early Christian Catacombs of Savinilla

The Early Christian catacombs of Savinilla date from the fourth and fifth centuries AD and are located near the current cemetery of Nepi.

Consisting of the main galleries and a number of secondary branches they are all dug into the tuff.

There are more than a thousand tombs and, in addition to simple niches, you can find arcosolia (tomb recessed in arch) and "formae" pavementali (tombs in form of pavement).
