Fumone. Ancient watchtower of Montelungo

Fumone. Ancient watchtower of Montelungo

In the locality of Montelungo of Fumone there are the remains of an ancient watchtower whose four sides are standing and in which loopholes can be distinguished.

Inside, you can still see the attachment to the fallen ceiling.

The ruin is in a favorable position to have controlled the territory and perhaps replaced a larger destroyed fortification in the fire set by Barbarossa in 1155 when he tried to capture Fumone.
