Nymphaeum of the Orsini
 Nymphaeum of the Orsini

Licenza. Nymphaeum of the Orsini

A short walk from the Villa of Horace in Licenza is the Orsini "nymph" a semicircular feature with a diameter of 23 meters.

Probably the ancient source Bandusia mentioned by Horace was in here. It was built in the fifteenth century, excavated from a part of the hill.

The water flows from three meters high by an interesting architectural backdrop, with columns at the sides, and flows with a pretty waterfall into a semicircular basin.

In front of the nymph are barely visible remains of a small circular pool that presupposes a similar monument from Roman times.
