Cittaducale. Medieval village

The majority of the most significant buildings of Cittaducale were built during the medieval period yet today look different from the original due to the reconstruction after the devastating earthquake of 1703.

The town retains much of its late-medieval town planning, elliptical modelled on that of the traditional Castrum Romanum with two perpendicular streets intersecting, giving rise to the central square, around which are located the main public buildings.

There are well preserved remnants of its outer walls that feature defensive towers, especially guarding the main entrance, called Angevin Tower or Cassero S. Manno.
