The large park of Villa Doria-Pamphili in Albano Laziale was part of a villa built in the 18th century on the ruins of the Roman villa of Pompeo Magno.
The villa was built by Cardinal Paolucci and then purchased by the Doria Pamphilj family.
The villa hosted a military camp and the battle of Villa Doria between Italians and Germans was fought here. It was then bombed during the Second World War and its ruins were demolished in 1951.
In the park you can still see the remains of Pompeo's villa.
