Vallerano. Rock Settlements

In the Vallerano area, there are at least four monastic settlements made in caverns or caves, perhaps used previously and then transformed during Christianity.

The settlements are the Caves of San Lorenzo which are frescoed and connected to a small necropolis. Then there are the Caves of San Leonardo where you can recognize the remains of a church dug into the tuff.

Finally there are the Caves of San Salvatore which have a fresco of the thirteenth century and finally the Caves of Sant’Angelo which have a central pillar.
