Castel Madama. Roman Aqueduct Anio Novus

The Roman aqueduct Anio Novus brought water of the Aniene Valley to Rome, passing through Castel Madama, and was started in 38 AD by Caligula.

It was the aqueduct that had the greatest flow of the four crossing the eastern part of Rome: the Anio Novus, the Anio Vetus, Aqua Marcia and Aqua Claudia.
