Formia. Roman Fountain of Saint Remix

Along the Appian Way in Formia is a Roman fountain in good condition.

The fountain of saint Remix uses a long wall of limestone blocks behind which was a cistern for water supply.

The water gushed from two anthropomorphic masks, depicting the sun and the moon.

A section of the ancient Via Appia is visible.
