Santopadre. Roman Villa

The archaeological site from Roman times on the slopes of Colle Campeo in Santopadre probably included both a small temple dedicated to the goddess Ceres Helvina and the villa of the poet satirist Decimo Giuno Giovenale.

This has been derived from two successive entries in 79 AD, found on the site but currently dispersed.

The rustic villa has polygonal walls of the fourth type and from the area were collected considerable fragments of vessels, including some in black-painted pottery from the Republican age.
