San Donato Val di Comino. The Stone of San Bernardino or "scandal"

In the middle of Via Maggiore San Donato Val di Comino is a stone called “San Bernardino" or "stone of the scandal."

Upon this rock, an insolvent borrower sat for a few hours, depending on the amount of money owed. With this act the borrower admitted his total failure.

Bernardino, actually "Blessed" and not "Saint", was born in Feltre in 1439 and devoted his life to defend the weak against usury along the roads of northern Italy many times, barefoot.
