The village of Fianello dates back to medieval times and is part of the municipality of Montebuono. It was created around the castle of the Orsini on a hill of medium height.
The village is enclosed by two gates and around the small square are the Orsini castle, the church of St. John the Baptist and the Lombard medieval tower.
This tower is older than the castle, from the sixth-seventh century AD, and originally had defensive and cultural functions. It is a rare example of a pentagonal tower with vault.
Fianello possessed some mills for the oil with millstones moved by donkey (there are two) and a large oven to make bread for all households.
