Fiumicino. Via Portuense and Isola Sacra

Portuense road connects the centre of Rome with its ports of Ostia and Fiumicino.

It ends in the mouth of the Tiber in Isola Sacra which is formed by the two branches of the river delta.

It is called Isola Sacra - sacred island, because it was the place where the Romans held the celebrations of the rites in honour of Castor and Pollux. Today this is a beach for residents of Rome.
