Alatri. Church of Our Lady of Loreto

Alatri. Church of Our Lady of Loreto

The small Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Alatri was built in 1642 by Giovanni Antonio Marra, perhaps to fulfill a vow made during a pilgrimage to Loreto.

In 1869 works were carried out to lower the entry and the internal level, following the placement of the road Via del Colle.

The church was destroyed by an army allied bombing in 1943 after which only the perimeter walls were left standing.

Here, according to tradition, the miracle occurred of the transformation of the host into flesh.

In 1990 the Brotherhood of San Sisto and the Church of St. Paul bought and restored the church.
