Alatri. Church of the Lady

Alatri. Church of the Lady

The church of the Lady is located outside the city center on the road to Fiuggi and dates back to the thirteenth century.

In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it has suffered a major resructuring with the entrance moved to the opposite side and the construction of a neo-Gothic facade.

The interior presents itself with both styles, that is, with original Gothic arches and an eighteenth-century polychrome coffered ceiling with fake trusses.

The presbytery is covered by a coffered ceiling decorated with rosettes while the choir, above the entrance, is covered by a cross vault decorated with a starry sky.

Inside are old votive paintings such as an enthroned Madonna and Child with four figures of saints, and a fresco of the Virgin and Child with Saint John the Baptist, attributed to Antonio da Alatri.
