The Church of the Magdalene dates from the late eleventh century and in 1196 was dedicated to the penitent Magdalene.
The building is located outside Alatri, at the foot of Mount Sant'Angelo in Formis, and was used as a leper colony that was active until the seventeenth century.
The façade is preceded by a portico and has a doorway with a narrow bezel topped with a lancet window.
The church has a nave with three large arches that support the roof and on the walls you can admire frescoes dedicated to Mary Magdalene, as well as saints, attributed to the local painter Antonio da Alatri.
On the entrance wall of the church there is a large picture painted by Raffaele Zappelli in 1877 depicting Saint Christopher and the Child Jesus.
