Church of St George

Arcinazzo Romano. Church of St George

The small church of St George was built on a hillock just outside the medieval center of Arcinazzo Romano.

It is one of the oldest buildings and is already mentioned in a document from 1115 preserved in the archives of the Subiaco abbey.

Over the centuries the church was enlarged and is mentioned in the report of the shepherd's visit to Arcinazzo Romano in 1575.

Today the church appears as a very simple building with a plastered facade enriched only by a stone frame of the entrance door and a circular opening, also in stone, placed above the door. On the sides of the door, then, two small openings illuminate the interior.

The church is dedicated to the patron saint of Arcinazzo Romano.
