Tarquinia. Cathedral of Saints Margaret and Martin

Tarquinia. Cathedral of Saints Margaret and Martin

The Cathedral of Saints Margaret and Martin in Tarquinia dates back to 1260 but was destroyed by fire in 1643.

It was rebuilt in stages until the end of the nineteenth century.

To the reconstruction, it owes its present neo-classical facade.

The cathedral has three naves and the apse is the only remaining element of the original Gothic church.

In the choir loft is found a pipe organ built by Angelo and Nicola Morettini in 1879.
