The church and convent of St. Francis were built by pope Onorato I Caetani (1363) on top of an earlier Franciscan complex.
The entire complex was badly damaged during the Second World War.
In 1960, though not yet reopened for worship, the director Vittorio De Sica filmed there the scenes of violence suffered by Cesira and Rosetta (played by Sophia Loren and Eleonora Brown) in the film Two Women.
The interior consists of two naves in Gothic style with Romanesque influences.
Among the tombstones you can see a window funerary relief (III - IV century AD).
This relief represents the "coniuctio dextrarum", the conjunction of the right hands as a sign of eternal fidelity, with the short version of marriage in Roman law: "Ubi tu Gaius ego Gaia ".
