Marino. Church of the Holy Trinity

Marino. Church of the Holy Trinity

The church f the Holy Trinity was built in Marino in 1635 by the Chierici Regolari Minori.

The monks had obtained from the Colonna princes care of the chapel near the quarries of tuff that housed the miraculous image of the Holy Cross.

The adjoining convent was closed during the Roman Republic (1798-1799) and the Napoleonic occupation.

Pope Gregory XVI opened the convent donating it to the Christian Doctrine Fathers and today is home to an art institute.

The church has a nave with six side chapels and an apse.

Inside there is a painting by Guido Reni (1575-1642): the Eternal Father, who holds on his knees the sacrificed Son and the Spirit blazing in his chest.
