Vetralla. Church of Madonna della Folgore

The modern church of Madonna della Folgore dates back to 1955 and is located in the forest of the Valleys of Vetralla.

Here in August 1955 a squad of Montebello Lancers took refuge under a large oak tree during a thunderstorm.

The tree was hit by lightning, but the soldiers remained miraculously unharmed.

In thanksgiving a small chapel was erected that then become a small church consecrated in 1967.
