Magliano Romano. Church of the Angels

The church of the Angels is located at the grotto of the Angels in Magliano Romano.

The grotto was perhaps originally used for Etruscan tombs.

During the sixth and seventh centuries, when Magliano belonged to the monks of St. Paul, it hosted several hermits who transformed it into the church.

The cave was completely frescoed but these frescoes were partially destroyed during a collapse.

In part they have been removed and can be seen in the church of San Giovanni Battista.
