Poggio Nativo. Church of the S.S. Annunziata

The church of the S.S. Annunziata stands on the ruins of an ancient chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary in Poggio Nativo.

It was consecrated by Pope St. Sylvester I in the first half of the fourth century AD.

Of this chapel what remain are the portal and the baptismal font.

In 1576, with Gregory XIII, the church was enlarged by order of Bernardino and Lucrezia Anguillara.

The big bell was donated by Prince Borghese.

Inside the church you can admire a valuable painting of the Umbrian-Roman school of the late sixteenth century, representing St. Francis of Paola.
