Cantalupo in Sabina. Church of Saint Adamo

The church of Sant'Adamo, near the banks of Calentino River, is located on one of the first habituated areas that gave rise to the Cantalupo in Sabina Castle.

It is considered one of the oldest and, since that time, it was the place for the goods and cattle fair.

Around the church were found remains of walls related to a villa of the first imperial age, as well as numerous fragments of columns, statues, a stone Catinus (basin) with columnar shaft and even Roman pottery fragments.

The church has a simple gabled façade, a small central belltower and three rectangular windows around the front door.

The church has a nave with a semicircular apse on which original frescoes are visible.
