Filacciano. Church of Saint Egidio

The Romanesque church of Saint Egidio is located below the palace of the town of Filacciano.

It was built between the X and XI centuries by the Benedictine monks of Farfa.

Some interior walls are covered with fine frescoes.

Saint Egidio was a healer from Athens in Greece and was born around the year 500.

When his parents died, he distributed his property to the poor and arrived in France where he was immediately venerated as a saint.
