Toffia. Church of San Lorenzo

The church of San Lorenzo in Toffia seems to have been built in 640, on the remains of a pagan temple dedicated to Janus.

The church of San Lorenzo in Toffia jor changes in the twelfth and sixteenth centuries.

On its façade you can see elements belonging to Roman tombs from the second century BC and two "tabulae lusoriae", slabs of carved limestone.

Other blocks and a set of studs seem to come from the lining of a tomb.

Inside there are two chapels: one dedicated to St. Sisinio of 1665 (made with the popular offerings) and one of San Saturnino of 1776.

The church is adorned with eighteenth century paintings.
