Formello. Church of San Lorenzo

The church of San Lorenzo in Formello, perhaps dates from the tenth century when it was a simple single-nave building.

In the fifteenth century two side aisles were added as well.

A bell tower was built in front of the right side at the central entrance portal which was walled.

In the left aisle on the first two altars are frescoes attributed to Donato Palmieri.

The main altar of 1744 is in coloured marble, was originally intended for the church of Sant'Apollinare in Rome.
