Poggio San Lorenzo. Church of San Lorenzo Martyr

The church of San Lorenzo Martyr in Poggio San Lorenzo was rebuilt in the eighteenth century and dedicated to San Lorenzo.

The church was originally dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel in ancient times.

During the reconstruction works a Roman tomb was discovered engraved with the name Caius Rufus.

Inside you can see two paintings of the sixteenth century: The Martyrdom of San Lorenzo and a Virgin and Child with St. Joseph.

Every August 10, the night of San Lorenzo, the church is a pilgrimage site.
