Casperia. Church of Santa Maria di Legarano

The church of Santa Maria di Legarano arose in a Roman settlement, as evidenced by the remains of walls and floors.

The church is located on a square of Casperia from which you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Tiber valley.

In the lunette of the portal is a fresco by Bartolomeo Torresani.

The interior has a nave and there are two remarkable sixteenth-century polychrome terracotta statues depicting the Virgin and St. Joseph, unique specimens remained of an old nativity scene (presepe) made by artists from Abruzzo.
