The church of Santa Maria in Forcassi in Vetralla has very ancient origins and has had a prior structure between the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
In 1449 it was restored during the Jubilee when Vetralla was travelled by pilgrims on their way to St. Peter's.
The church has a single nave and three apses in the back wall, a central altar, raised from the floor, and two side altars.
On the right wall there is another environment which leads to an underground chamber, a crypt which is now inaccessible.
Inside, the ceiling is trussed and dates back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and the facade is decorated with a rosette.
The church is covered with frescoes that are by now barely legible.
