Borgo Velino. Church of St. Anthony

The church of Saints Dionysius, Rustico and Eleuterio is also known as Saint Anthony and is located just outside the town of Borgo Velino on the left bank of the river Velino.

It dates from the twelfth century and is built over the remains of a Roman temple dedicated to Diana, goddess of hunting.

In the Romanesque façade you can see ornamental elements of the VII and VIII centuries: sculptural fragments in the façade walls including a slab with a dedication to Diana's nymphs.

Inside are precious frescoes dating back to the years 1511-22.
