The church of St. Mary of Providence dates from the eleventh century and was the first church in Ronciglione with the name of St. Andrew.
The building has a single nave with a roof truss.
The interior is decorated with various frescoes including a Crucifixion in the apse and a Christ Blessing with cherubs and angels, of the fifteenth century.
In 1722 a part of the rock cliff on which it was built broke off and in 1742 the church was restored in baroque style with an external portico and it took the name of St. Mary of Providence.
The name is due to a fresco which was found during the restoration work.
The image of the Virgin was considered miraculous by the Ronciglionesi.
She was much loved even by San Carlo Borromeo, who often came to visit her and why she is portrayed on the altar frontispiece.
The bell tower is Romanesque, dates from the thirteenth century and is located at the edges of the tuffa spur although its height has been reduced compared to the original.
