Colonna. Church of St. Nicholas

Colonna. Church of St. Nicholas

Work on the church of St. Nicholas in Colonna began in 1757 at the behest of Nicholas Pallavicini, then feudal lord of Colonna.

On his death the church was completed only thanks to the intervention of Cardinal Henry Stuart, Duke of York.

The church shows the lines of late baroque and is accessed via an impressive staircase that runs through the centre of the town.
