Contigliano. Collegiate Church of St. Michael the Archangel

Contigliano. Collegiate Church of St. Michael the Archangel

The collegiate church of St. Michael the Archangel was erected in 1563 and is on the top of the hill on which stands the village of Contigliano.

The church has a Baroque interior and a single nave with intercommunicating chapels.

You can see valuable eighteenth-century paintings and a beautiful carved wooden choir, designed by Gregorini and painted gold by Vincenzo Fabrisci from Caprarola.

Outside, past the Porta de'Santi, you can visit the crypt of the church, dating from the seventeenth century.
