Licenza. Church of Saints Philip and James

The church of Saints Philip and James is located in Civitella, the hamlet of Licenza born around on of its castles. The church is on the highest point called Viewpoint square (piazza della veduta) which dominates the Lucretili mountains and in particular the village of Percile.

Its origin probably dates back to the Middle Ages and the Catholic Church celebrates both the two apostles on May 3rd.

The church has a simple plastered facade flanked by a graceful bell tower. The interior has a single nave with a wooden roof and a chapel on the right side.

The altar area has a barrel-vaulted roof and is in a raised area separated by a wooden balustrade. A wooden choir loft is located above the entrance.
