Esperia. Pony Esperia

Esperia. Pony Esperia

Esperia gives its name to a breed of pony, originally from Mounts Ausoni and Aurunci.

It is one of the fifteen breeds of limited diffusion recognized by the Association of Italian Breeders.

It is the only Italian breed called "pony".

The horse is small in size and has a shiny black cloak.

It has great stamina, is rustic and perfectly adapted for harsh environments.

The Esperia pony has a proud carriage and a lively character and made home in the wild on the Aurunci Mountains, on Lepini and overlooking Mount Cairo.

The breed began in 1882 with 5 Arabian race horses, from Nedjid being crossed with native horses. It is currently used in stables and equestrian centers, in particular to start children riding.
