Bisentina Island is one of the two islands located on Lake Bolsena, and has an area of about 17 hectares.
There are beautiful gardens and 7 small buildings of worship comprising chapels and rural churches built between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
Among these buildings stand the mausoleum of the Farnese family, which is the Church of Saints James and Christopher, Mount Tabor (or Transfiguration) with frescoes representing the Popes Pius I and II.
The small Mount Calvary (or Crucifix) decorated with frescoes attributed to a painter from the school of Benozzo Gozzoli.
The last one is St. Catherine, called the Rocchina because it reflects the octagonal shape of Rocca Farnese, and was probably designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger.
