Cassino. Villa Comunale and Gari river park

In the city of Cassino there is one of the richest water basins in Europe, with a flow rate of about 20 m3 / s and valuable chemical-physical characteristics that make the waters of the Gari river particularly suitable for human consumption.

Its springs are located on the slopes of Montecassino and Rocca Janula, in the central piazza corte, behind the cathedral.

After a short underground stretch, the Gari re-emerges inside the Villa Comunale (Park XV March 1944), where it divides into two branches, which come together to form a characteristic pond.

From the Villa Comunale to the Terme Varroniane - Varrone's bath, an evocative naturalistic, cycle and pedestrian path has been created, which runs along the Gari river.

Along the open stretch of the river it is possible to go out by boat, canoe and eco-rafting.
