At the foot of the Lepini Mountains, where the river Ninfa flows from a crystal clear spring that forms a pond, are the mysterious and fascinating ruins of the "dead city" of Ninfa.
Today these ruins are one of the most impressive botanical gardens in Europe, created by the Caetani family in the early 1900s and is full of plants from all parts of the world.
The Garden of Ninfa is partially in the administrative area of Cisterna di Latina.
The city was destroyed in the Middle Ages during the struggles between Empire and Papacy.
