Genazzano. La Selva Genazzano

The park La Selva Genazzano (Genazzano Woods) is a natural monument with an area of about 25 hectares, including a beautiful forest in the Prenestini mountains rich in plant species and an interesting fauna.

The forest was donated to the municipality of Genazzano by Cardinal Drago in the late nineteenth century, the town then gave it to the people to use for collecting wood and charcoal production.

The forest includes an area where the waters of the river Sacco dam and geologically it is characterized by sinkholes.

The forest has trees of Turkey oak, Italian oak, lime, hornbeam and many other, thanks to a particular bioclimatic situation, with lots of rainfall and temperate conditions.
