Lake Vico is a volcanic lake, the highest above sea level in Italy and is surrounded by vast crops of hazel trees.
The nature reserve is called "Little Switzerland" because of its beauty.
Its surface has been greatly reduced in the time of the Etruscans for the construction of an underground culvert that crosses the mountain and brings the waters of the lake into the valley originating the Rio Vicano. In this way, a large area was fertilized.
