Farnese. Selva del Lamone

The forest of Lamone in Farnese is a natural monument, an oak forest of about 2000 hectares on a plateau of lava of the Vulsinio volcano.

The forest is at times impenetrable and is the natural habitat of many species of animals.

In the nineteenth century it was the refuge of the brigand Domenico Tiburzi, called the "King of Lamone".

Here are the remains of the proto-historic village "the Roccoia" and other Bronze Age settlements.
