Mazzano Romano. Treja Valley - Montegelato Park

Mazzano Romano is in the Treja Valley Park, and in its territory, the complex of buildings and the waterfalls of Montegelato is one of the most striking features of the park. Here was a Roman villa and it is assumed it was also an agricultural settlement of Pope Hadrian I (772-795) to provide food to the city of Rome.

Among the buildings to visit is a water mill of 1831 which was in operation until the postwar period and which was used in films.

Scenes in about 200 films have been shot here since Roberto Rossellini first to discovered this place in 1950.
