Palombara Sabina. The Palombarese Costumes

This dress of Palombara Sabina was originally worn by women in the town on the day of their wedding, and on special occasions. It was sewn in taffeta, brocade, and lace, held together with pins and paper clips. The dress was embellished with coral and filigree.

The robe was made up of several layers: beginning with Scamiciata (sleeveless frock), then the camisole or a simple red cloth, then the bust and finally brocade skirt (known locally as vunnella).

The finishing touches were the accessories: the smock/shawl and the handkerchief over her shoulders.
