Barbarano Romano. Marturanum Regional Park

In Barbarano Romano, the Marturanum Regional Park is a nature reserve an area of ​​over 1,200 hectares in countryside.

It was the ancient volcanic complex Vicana, from which originated the famous red rock of the Tuscia.

The area features large and lush tufa valleys, where the two main rivers flow, the rivers Biedano and Vesca.

The testimony of the volcanic activity is given by the mineralized hot springs, rich in iron.

The park contains significant archaeological evidence that starts from the Bronze Age and goes to the Roman period.

Were found important legacies of the Villanovan period, the early Iron Age, the ninth century BC, that correspond to the proto phase of the Etruscan people.
